Context and inspiration
Who hasn't heard of Léon Marchand? The French swimming champion left his mark on the Paris Olympic Games with his performances, his energy and the enthusiasm he sparked among the public.
For this first artwork dedicated to the swimmer, I chose to depict his smile and the strength he radiates in the pool. Its title, A Prodigy Revealed, evokes the moment when his talent became clear to the whole world, making him one of the most memorable faces of the competition.
This portrait celebrates the determination, passion and exceptional rise of a young athlete who has become a true source of inspiration.
Creative process
To create this artwork, I used a pair of used white Nike Air Force 1 sneakers.
The background was worked in shades of blue, echoing the world of swimming. You can also make out the Olympic Games logo, which places the artwork in the context of this landmark competition and recalls the exceptional moment that Paris 2024 represented.
